PONTIFICAL JOHN PAUL II INSTITUTE FOR STUDIES ON MARRIAGE AND FAMILY, CANA
Situated at Thuruthy in Changanacherry is the Indian Session of the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family, Lateran University, Rome. Founded by St. John Paul II in 1981 with the motto “to renew the face of the earth” (Ps. 104:30), it offers Licentiate and Master’s Degrees in Studies on Marriage and Family treating the subject from a variety of angles – Scriptural, psychological and socio-anthropological. A special attraction of the course is the training in scientific counselling. It also conducts short term courses in Family Ministry, Counselling and Spiritual Direction. Central to the mission of the Institute is the preparation of the Priests, Religious and Lay people in organising family oriented pastoral activities and the training of leaders in the field of Family Apostolate.
